Taylor Nkomo

Taylor Nkomo is a versatile second-generation sculptor who began in the media of painting, fabric and drawing before finding sculpting in 1977. He has received numerous awards for his works and his sculptures, textiles and paintings have been exhibited worldwide. His inspiration for his sculptures come from the environment and the central meaning of family ties in Zimbabwe. “Come From the Field” is a powerful statement of three major components of life in Zimbabwe, namely family/mothers, children and food. He captures all of these in this imposing 8-foot-tall hand carved work.
